ChordWriter Help File Update

This file contains the updated WinHelp version of the ChordWriter Help files:

chordwriter2-5-11-hlp.zip(71KB)

Unzip and place these files in the ChordWriter directory to replace the originals.

Note: WinHelp (HLP) files are compatible with Windows XP and earlier.
You may experience compatibility issues with WinHelp files if you are using
Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems (see issues addressed below).

This file contains the new HTML-Help version of the ChordWriter Help file:

ChordWriter.CHM (80KB)

Note: Downloaded files must be "unblocked" in Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Save the CHM file to your computer then right-click on the file and select "Properties".
In the Properties dialog, click on the "Unblock" button (this is a new security feature).

Issues addressed in this update:
1. The "How to Register ChordWriter" topic has been updated to include the correct link to the new RegNow service.
2. The "How to find song lyrics on the web" topic has been updated to remove broken links.
3. The new HTML Help (CHM) file was created to address incompatibility issues with WinHelp (HLP) files, that began with Windows Vista.
   a. An error message my appear when attemping to launch the HLP file from the Help Menu unless a support file from Microsoft is installed.
   b. ChordWriter may crash when attemping to launch the HLP file from the Help Menu unless admin permissions are set.
   c. Links to web URLs in the HLP file do not cause a browser to open. They have to be copied and pasted into a browser's address bar.
